Greening Uganda’s Urbanization and Industrialization in four secondary cities:   Arua, Gulu, Mbarara and Jinja.

GBCUG has signed an MOU with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Uganda on Cooperation for Green City Development. With inter alia support the incorporation of green building standards in the National Building Code and with delivery of training materials and training to key stakeholders in the four secondary cities and the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA). GBCUG led work to support the incorporation of green building standards in the National Building Codes under the Ministry of Works and Transport European Union (EU) funded) project entitled: ‘Greening Uganda’s Urbanisation and Industrialisation’. We successfully delivered a Gap Analysis and Recommendations to the National Building Review Board.

Strengthening UNFCC Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Mitigation and Adaptation

We actively campaigned for the enhancement of Uganda’s nationally determined contributions to include the built environment as a critical factor for climate change mitigation and adaptation, effectively moving sustainable design and green building from a design preference to a necessity.
